About the Opportunity
Your Safari Ltd is a premier, well established travel company trading for the last 25 years. Dedicated to crafting once-in-a-lifetime bespoke safari and adventure experiences across the globe. We require a financially savvy, reliable Freelance Bookkeeper/Accounting Consultant to partner with us on an ongoing basis to manage our daily financial operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-employed professional with expert Xero skills, Knowledge of Protected Trust Services or Similar Escrow packages desirable but not essential as training can be given. A passion for travel to provide crucial financial support to a dynamic, international business.
The Service You Will Provide (What You’ll Be Reconciling):
Working closely with the Directors, your responsibilities will include:
• Maintaining and managing all financial transactions within the Xero accounting platform.
• Daily bank, credit card, and supplier statement reconciliations.
• Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely payments to our global network of lodges and tour operators.
• Handling client invoices, deposits, and payment tracking (a key focus in the travel industry).
• Processing debits\credits for Protected Travel Services Escrow accounting system which allows us to trade under the Package Travel Regulations.
• Assisting with month-end close procedures and preparing initial financial reports for review.

The Essentials:
• Proven expertise and hands-on experience with Xero accounting software is mandatory.
• A minimum of [Specify, e.g., 2 years] experience operating as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or Financial Consultant.
• Microsoft Windows 11 & Microsoft Office Professional Hands-on Experience.
• Google Mail & Google Drive Hands on Experience.
• Protected Travel Services or other Escrow Accounts knowledge desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and the discipline required to manage contractual deadlines independently.
• Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Must be registered as a self-employed individual and responsible for own taxes and liabilities.

What Sets You Apart:
• Desirable Knowledge: A solid understanding or working experience within the travel industry (tour operator, travel agent, or hospitality sector). But not Essential.
• Experience with multi-currency transactions and the specific complexities of handling client deposits and supplier payments common to travel companies.
