This was my first visit to Africa let alone a safari so it was very much an adventure. My companion for the trip was Brian who I had not met before but we did Skype prior to travelling out and got on really well.<br>Kathryn looked after us both admirably, especially when it took three days for my bag to arrive, all credit to Air Namibia for getting it to me after I was forced to leave it in T5 concourse because the baggage system had gone down again.
The accommodation was good and the food excellent. Kathryn’s knowledge of the people and areas ensured we had a great time. Her new vehicle with the padded sidebars for resting our cameras was invaluable as was the pop up roof.
I was left with many happy memories and 7000+ photos that could not have been taken if we had not been ‘persuaded’ to get up early to be one of the first to the waterholes. The battle over a kill between five lions and twenty to thirty hyenas was amazing for the noise and tension. The following day we saw hyenas swimming in a waterhole. Getting up early really does pay off.
I loved coming face to face with a honeybadger and a pair of Jackal’s while walking back to my chalets at night.
Another highlight was walking with three cheetahs at Africat while they were hunting. In fact there were so many highlights that it really was a holiday of a lifetime.
Many thanks to Brian and Kathryn for being such good company on this fantastic trip.
I would thoroughly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to do a photo safari.
